The Gales is a short Par 3 hole which is made rather daunting by the elevation of the tee in relationship to the green. There is also a very deep ravine with wooded sides between the tee and the green. If this wasn’t enough there are two cavernous bunkers in front of the green waiting to swallow up the ball of the timid golfer. There are also subtle slopes running off the green ready to gather up the ball and carry it to the bunkers.
The green is on two levels with a ridge running across the green from left to right.
A second ladies tee was commissioned in 2004 and is situated to the left of the road.
The Elevated white championship tee was also commissioned in 2004 and when the tee shot is played from this tee it makes this hole the signature hole of the course.
This hole was originally named “The Pit” It was renamed “The Gales” in 2007 in honour of Joan and Glyn Gale who had served the club in varying capacities throughout their golfing life.
