Hole Review

Westward Ho, as its name suggests plays from East to West. With the prevailing winds being South Westerly and with this being the most exposed part of the course it is sometimes more difficult than most.

This is more than compensated for by the spectacular views from this fairway. Seabirds abound and shipping is always on the move. The Irish ferry passes by on its way to and from Pembroke Dock to Rosslare twice a day.

A good drive should take the golfer well past the 150 yard marker (unless the prevailing wind is blowing) leaving a mid iron shot to the green.

The green itself is two tier with the top level at the back and fairly large.

There is a narrow lead in to the green which is flanked on the right with a steep slope down to the green and guarded by a large shallow bunker.

On the left an even steeper slope down off the green will send any ball that hits it in to the rough making a par very difficult.
