On Monday 10th June 22 seniors played at Cardigan Golf Club for the Senior Captains Away day,the course was in excellent condition, with extremely fast greens and fast running sloping fairways all made more difficult by a very strong and cold north wind and rough that devoured a vast number of golf balls.
The overall winner of the Alan & Veronica John Trophy
with an excellent score of 35 points given the conditions was Steve Warlow.
2nd place Andrew Smith with 30 points
3rd place David O’Keeffe with 30 points
4th place Sean Conway with 30 points
5th place Tim Phillips with 29 points
Nearest the pin in 2 on the 2nd was Ken Davies.
Nearest the pin on the 16th was Alan Dennison.
Nearest estimate of the total balls lost by all 22 was won by Chris Burgess who guessed 58 (the actual total number lost was 90 – all due no doubt to the strong wind not bad golf!!)
A superb 2 course dinner was followed by a few beers, the raffle and presentation, overall a thoroughly enjoyable day out.
